Chatham Pantry participated in the Community Health Fair in March 2026

Volunteers from the Pantry participated in the Community Health Fair at the Chatham MED Elementary School. We handed out information sheets, a food insecurity quiz and a scattergories game. Students were allowed to "Shop the Pantry" for items to make a specific meal. Our booth was very popular and had many visitors learning about the pantry.

Feeding New York Advocacy

One of our Board members recently attended the Feed NYS Advocacy Webinar and shared the following information:

It was enlightening to be part of the Feed NYS Advocacy Webinar and to know we at the Chatham Silent Food Pantry can have our voices heard as part of the NYS Advocacy initiative.

The three main points were

  1. Funding for school lunches throughout the state, many people believe lunches are free for all but they are not.

  2. Increase minimum SNAP from $50 to $100/month which will help individuals (especially seniors) to purchase healthy options.

  3. Supporting SNAP4All which supports immigrants and individuals released from incarceration, our most vulnerable.

There are three ways we can make a difference.

  • Call in Day on Feb. 5th.

  • Anti Hunger Advocacy Day at the Capital on Feb. 25th - Pantry Field Trip?

  • Petition urging Gov. Hochul and legislators to fully fund relief

If you would like to view the slides from this forum which contain information on how to get involved or are interested in possibly attending the Anti-Hunger Advocacy Day, please email Judi at judi.m.matthews@gmail.com.
